And the award for Best Performance in the Louisiana Film Prize competition goes to … Moriah Hicks, theater instructor in Bossier Schools’ Talented Arts Program!
Hicks was selected among 20 nominees in the category of Best Performance for her role as Connie, a relationship therapist helping to save a struggling marriage, in the short film Three Sessions.
The film was also one of the top five films at LA Film Prize selected to receive a $1,000 reimbursable grant towards festival entry fees and was chosen to receive the Founder’s Circle Award, which receives a $3,000 grant towards short film entry in Film Prize 2025.
Gripped by emotion, Hicks tearfully addressed the crowd at the LA Film Prize awards, thanking them for their vote of confidence.
“When you’ve been working on something for so long and you finally, you’re finally able to see yourself and people finally are able to see the hard work that you’ve been putting so many years into, it allows me to realize that it’s really good that I didn’t give up on myself and my dream.”
A graduate of the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Hicks received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a minor in Mass Communications.
