Zach Cryer

Benton High senior Zach Cryer is advancing at the state level to represent Bossier Schools in the Louisiana High School Student of the Year competition with hopes of a three-peat.

The Louisiana Department of Education announced its 2024 finalists in the fifth, eighth and 12th grades from each of the state’s eight Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) regions. Cryer is one of eight high school students chosen to make the leap to the state level.

This is not his first time in the competition arena. Cryer was the 2017 Louisiana Elementary Student of the Year and the 2020 Middle School Student of the Year. Bossier Schools Superintendent Jason Rowland and a group of well-wishers surprised Cryer with the news during Spanish class.

The state awards ceremony is in April and Bossier Schools is cheering you on, Zach!
