It has been a successful season for the Haughton High School Marksmanship team, competing in both the Louisiana Civilian Marksmanship Program State Championship and Air Force JROTC National Championship.
At the State Championship, the Varsity team earned second place overall and first in the Air Force Division. The Junior Varsity team came in third place in the Air Force Division. Individually, Kate Lewis made an impressive third place showing and Wally Cassel came in 12th place out of 95 competitors.
It was then on to the Air Force JROTC National Championships in Anniston, Alabama, where the Bucs in Blue finished 12th overall. On an individual basis, Layla Briggs won an exciting finals match, shooting her way to fifth place overall out of 101 competitors. That garnered her an invitation to the All Service JROTC Nationals which will take place in March at Camp Perry, Ohio.
Congratulations to the Bucs in Blue and good luck to Briggs at Nationals.
