Inter-District Student Transfer

All in-district transfers should be initiated through the Guardian OnCourse Connect Portal. This is for students currently enrolled in a Bossier Parish School who have finalized a move to a new address which will result in attending a different school within Bossier Parish. Annual registration is required before student transfer requests can be submitted. Are you moving to Bossier from another school district? Complete New Student Registration instead.

Please note that address changes within the same attendance zone DO NOT need to complete a transfer form. Please contact your child’s school to edit your address within the current attendance zone. Additionally, student transfers related to a Special Education IEP without an address change will NOT need to complete a transfer request.

If your child is moving to a different grade band (elementary to middle or middle to high), but not changing attendance zones or feeder patterns, you should complete annual registration, NOT new student registration or inter-district student transfer.  For example, at the completion of a school year, if your child progresses from 5th grade at Stockwell Place Elementary to 6th grade at Cope Middle School, your enrollment automatically changes to Cope Middle and you will complete annual registration starting in early July.

TRANSFER REQUEST STEPS

Annual registration is required before student transfer requests can be submitted.

Step 1

Use the School Finder to confirm the attendance boundaries for your new address. PDF maps and Google Map overlays of attendance zones can also be found here.

Step 2

Prepare the following documents in digital format (preferred format is an original pdf or scanned copy, otherwise a high-resolution picture) to be uploaded in the secure portal:

Two Proofs of Residence with your name and address

  • One (1) current utility bill showing the physical address for service within the District; AND

  • One (1) of the following that shows the location of residence within the District:

    • Property tax records; or

    • Mortgage documents or property deed; or

    • Apartment or home lease or, if no lease, a Declaration of Residency Form (forms are available at each school site and must be completed in person)

  • If the student resides with a legal guardian (court-appointed) the court decree must be provided.

Step 3

Login to the Guardian’s OnCourse Connect Portal to begin the transfer request. Please note that only the guardian listed as primary can submit a transfer request. If you are not listed as the primary guardian and do not see the transfer request button, contact your child’s current school. View the step-by-step guide here.

Step 4

After you submit your student transfer request, office staff from your school will process the form. If additional information is needed, your school will contact you either by email or phone.
